Self Guided Learning in SF Bay Area - CPR BLS, ACLS, and PALS Courses

Healthcare professionals in San Francisco face a real problem: staying current on American Heart Association training while working demanding schedules. Shifts at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, Kaiser Permanente San Francisco, and Chinese Hospital don’t leave much room for all-day classroom sessions.

Self-Guided Learning™ courses solve that problem. Safety Training Seminars, located at 1485 Bayshore Blvd, Suite 377 in San Francisco’s Bayshore district, offers American Heart Association® BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses using this flexible, self-directed model—so you complete training on your schedule, not someone else’s.

Here’s exactly how it works.

Self-Guided Learning in SF Bay Area

What Are Self-Guided Learning™ Courses?

Self-Guided Learning™ courses combine two components:

  1. Self-paced online cognitive learning — completed independently on any compatible device
  2. A self-guided skills session — completed in person at a CPR Verification Station™ learning center

Learners complete both components independently. Upon successful completion, you receive an American Heart Association Course Completion eCard for BLS, ACLS, or PALS. That eCard meets employer and hospital requirements nationwide and is valid for two years.

Safety Training Seminars offers this format for three American Heart Association courses:

  • BLS CPR — Online course: 1–2 hours | Skills session: 30 minutes | $120
  • ACLS — Online course: 2–3 hours | Skills session: 30 minutes | $290
  • PALS — Online course: 2–3 hours | Skills session: 30 minutes | $290

No fixed class times. No waiting for a group to finish. Just structured, AHA-aligned training built around your availability.

How the Online Learning Activity Works

The online portion uses True Adaptive™ learning powered by Area9 Lyceum. This technology continuously assesses your existing knowledge and adjusts the content path in real time.

Here’s what that means practically:

  • The system identifies your knowledge gaps and focuses content there
  • You spend less time reviewing material you already know
  • You progress at your own pace based on mastery, not time spent
  • Content includes interactive patient care scenarios, algorithm-based exercises, and clinical decision-making simulations

You can access the course from a desktop, laptop, or tablet—at home, between shifts, or anywhere with an internet connection. The course automatically saves your progress, so you can pause and return without starting over.

This personalized learning pathway makes the online portion more efficient than static video modules or traditional classroom lectures.

How the Self-Guided Skills Session Works

After completing the online learning activity, you schedule your hands-on skills session at the CPR Verification Station™ learning center at Safety Training Seminars Bayshore.

Skills are completed independently. There is no instructor present during the session. Instead, the CPR Verification Station learning center provides:

  • Real-time, audiovisual performance feedback
  • Objective measurement of CPR skills against AHA guidelines
  • Objective skills assessment using simulation technology

The system measures compression depth, rate, recoil, ventilation volume, and timing. You receive immediate feedback and can repeat the required skills activities as many times as needed to achieve a passing score.

This approach eliminates the variability of instructor-led evaluations. Every learner gets assessed against the same AHA-defined standards.
